Never in a million years did I think I’d shoot a wedding on a BEACH in SOUTHERN Indiana while barefoot. It sounds like the most impossible of dreams.

Before their engagement session I didn’t even know such a place existed.

When Lillian and I first met, we talked about all the things she and Mark love to do together– one of their favorites was to hop in their Jeep, head to the Quarry with their dogs, and hang out on the beach at the Quarry.

Not only was the Quarry special for them, but Lillian grew up spending many summers there with her family. It’s been part of her life for a long time. And now she gets to share it with her own little family!

When she told me about the Quarry, I knew it was THE spot for their engagement session. I always want my sessions to be meaningful, especially for couples and I knew it would reflect their relationship perfectly.

But like I said before, never did I think I’d be shooting a wedding on a BEACH in SOUTHERN Indiana… enter COVID.

Their plans for what was once to be a large extravagant wedding, turned into them planning an intimate gathering of their closest family and friends. And it was to die for.

Lillian and Mark– your wedding day was a breath of fresh air. Your experience over the last 6+ months gave light to an often forgotten notion– that wedding days should truly be about the two of you.

Too often brides and grooms are caught up in planning all the things. They get lost in making everyone happy, and forget about themselves.

I’m here to tell you though, if you’re planning a wedding, it doesn’t have to be that big wedding your mom wants. You don’t have to invite all your dad’s old co-workers. You don’t have to do all the traditional dances and bouquet tossing and whatever else. You don’t have to make sure everyone will like your food. You don’t even need a cake!

And I really can’t stress this part enough– if you are ever a bride of mine, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING YOU DON’T ACTUALLY WANT TO DO.

YOU DO YOU.

At the end of the day, you’ll be married! And isn’t that really the point?

If you want the small intimate wedding, do it!
If you want the big extravagant wedding, go for it!

I’m here for you either way! And I just want you to get the day you actually deserve and the day you actually want!

So, Lillian and Mark– Today is one month of marriage for you! Thank you for including me in another step of your journey together!
